I'm a Senior Machine Learning Scientist at Solventum (based in Dublin, Ireland), working on applications of Generative AI / Natural Language Processing in healthcare. My team is teaching machines to understand spoken conversations between doctors and patients, with my work focusing on evaluation of natural language generation systems, and on methods for building better medical language models.

Previously, I lead the machine learning research team at News Intelligence startup Aylien (also working on Deep Learning and Natural Language Processing), and worked in data infrastructure and analytics at both SoundCloud and Open Knowledge.

I hold a Ph.D. in Audio Signal Processing and Computer Science from the Maynooth University (Ireland), where I was supervised by Prof. Victor Lazzarini. My current research interests include natural language generation and evaluation, natural language understanding, computational creativity, and the application of machine learning to help with social, humanitarian and environmental challenges.
